F2: Alice, did you see that man who just passed us?
F1: No. I didn't really notice him. Why?

2. A wife and husband begin talking.
W: Are you still working on the car, hon?
H: (Unhappily) Ah, yeah.
W: You sound pretty depressed. What's wrong?
H: I think we're going to have to get another car. I don't think I can fix it this time . ..

3. Two office-workers are talking in the office.
