improving my vocabulary

اشتراک گذاری در شبکه های اجتماعی

Hey,

I'm trying to improve my vocabulary and have found that reading books doesn't do enough because I don't get to practice the words (make sentences etc.) and I tend to forget them before they're used again in the same book.

I was wondering if this is a good book: http://www.cambridge.org/us/cambridgeenglish/catalog/grammar-vocabulary-...

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

Cheers

Hi there,

This is definitely a good book and it's ideal for self-study as well. As you've mentioned, in order to actively (and not passively) learn a word, one needs to actually use and contextualize it. TALK to yourself, make funny sentences! Do use the new words in your daily life. WRITE a short story using the new words if you're into writing. What I used to do was building up a funny story using the new words. I was then narrating it for my mother and a few close friends and it sounded ridiculous. But it did work for me like a charm!

Other suggestions:

1- Do read this article: http://www.languageties.com/en/article/how-to-improve-and-expand-your-vo...

2- Take part in our free virtual classes where you can activate your newly learned words: http://www.languageties.com/fa/virtual-classroom/schedule
