97: Positive Thinking

Dear friends, 

In our next conversation class, we will share our information and experiences with regard to positive thinking. This topic is somehow psychological and if taken seriously can help you tremendously to make positive changes to your life. The main area of focus in our upcoming discussion is all about the techniques that can help us to learn and practice positive thinking as a learnable skill.

So please positively think about this useful assignment before the class.

Discrimination

  1. What kinds of discrimination can you name? Which is the worst and why?
  2. What do you think is the reason behind discrimination?
  3. Have you ever personally suffered from discrimination in your family/ in your society? How did you feel? What did you do?
  4. Have you ever discriminated against others?
  5. Imagine you manage a company and you want to employ some people, do you prefer men or women? Do you prefer white or black people? Do you prefer your friends to strangers?
  6. How can we help reduce discrimination?

Freedom of speech

  1. What is freedom of speech?
  2. Is complete freedom of speech possible? If it was, would it be desirable?
  3. Who should decide on the limits of freedom? How?
  4. Are you tolerant of hearing ideas which are against yours? What's your first reaction?
  5. To what extent are you free in your family to express your ideas?
  6. Are there things you would like to talk about that you cannot? What are they?

War

  1. Does war ever do any good?
  2. Have you ever experienced war? What are the things you can remember clearly? How did it influence your personal life?

Retaliation

  1. If someone hurts a family member of yours, do you think of retaliation?
  2. If someone hurts you, can you easily forgive them or you may think of revenge?
  3. Have you ever retaliated against anyone?
  4. Why is retaliation enjoyable for some people?

Laws

  1. Do you usually obey the laws or break them?/ law or break it
  2. When was the last time you broke a law? (Traffic rules are considered as laws!)
  3. If you were offered a million dollars to kidnap a baby, would you do that (the baby wouldn't be hurt)?
  4. Do you respect the copyright law? Why/why not? (Do you believe in your reasons?)
  5. Have you ever studied law at University? Do you know any lawyers?  Do you trust them?
