Let's start by answering the first question:

What are some of your concerns about your health?

I am using mobile and I just see half of the page. So I just saw half of Jafar's question. But about the health I want to say that using mobile alot and being under the effects of the sattelite frequencies & parasites can be very harmful. Also some people buy alot of drugs that they see in the TV advertisements without any knowledge, but it may cause them very hard and bad sicknesses.

Thanks for your reply, Sanaz. smiley Now the question is: how much do you care about your own health? Do you try to eat healthy food? Do you work out?

hi

It's my first time so if i May:

buying "drugs seen on TV"??? which TV channal advertises Drugs???surprise

Hi Mehrzad,

Thanks for joining the discussion. What Sanaz means by "drugs" is actually medicine, not narcotics. She probably means all those slimming pills advertised on satellite channels.

I have a lot of consern about the health of me and people who live in big cities like tehran. we are suffering alot of stress all day . Air and noise polution could be harmfull for us.How we can prepare ourself for these dangers?

Thanks for your reply, Hamed. smiley As you pointed out, living a healthy life in large cities such as Tehran sometimes gets too difficult. The dangers caused by air and sound polution are usually inevitable, but I personally try to avoid them by going out only on necessary occasions. Stress management is also important. Do you make use of any startegies to manage that?

Honestly speaking ,I usedto eat unhealthy food occasionally junk food owing to the fact that i was very lazy and i didnt know it causes obesity ,i have gained weight since that time and now  i am fat ,i have a big stomach .plese help me to lose weight .

Hi Ehsan,

I'm glad you've realized the dangers of eating unhealthy food. The best way to lose weight is to start working out. You should also keep a balanced diet, with fresh vegetables included. Please do eat breakfast every morning and stop eating a big dinner late at night. A light supper eaten early in the evening could be the best choice. Let me know when you'll start and keep me posted on your progress. :-)

Honestly I do not work out alot and just walk sometimes.

I have been on adiet since 10 days ago.

I just eat 1 piece of bread in my breakfast.

I eat 1 or 2 spoons of rice as a lunch & different kinds of salad as a dinner.

actually I add anything healty & delicious to the salad. I used to eat alot ofconfectionaries and nuts but I reduced it.

I have lost 3kg of my weight within 10 days but actually I was very phisically active during these days.

I have not ever gone to a doctor for loosing weight.

Thanks Sanaz. But you can lose weight more easily if you start working out or jogging every day.
As I told Ehsan, you should eat most of the food you cosume daily during the morning and early afternoon when you are more likely to be active.
I also lost 15 kilos when I was 22. But I took aerobics classes every morning at 7 a.m. in summer.

Sanaz, I also recommend that you eat some vegetables such as cucumbers for breakfast. As you know, fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber. What is important about fiber is that it slows the absorption of sugar and starches (which are later broken down into glucose) and thus posivitely affects blood glucose levels. Moreover, it does not contribute any calories.

So make sure you include some vegetables and fruits in your breakfast as well.

I eat fruits during the day, but Jafar do not eat more bread in my breakfast because I don't like bread anymore and everyday morning I have to eat  a banana and a glass of milk every morning. This is my habit. But my problem is that I have thyroids( I am not sure if I spelled correctly.) and I have to take my pill before the break fast and I also should take somepills like vitamins C & E., calcium, Folic acid, Zinc & vitamin B1 as my other doctor prescribed. Taking these pills make me hungry and I always try to prevent myself from eating so much food or junk food.

Sanaz, thanks a lot for your detailed explanation. Do you have an underactive or an overactive thyroid?

Hope you'll recover soon so that you won't have to take those pills. smiley

Hello guys :) finally here i am :D
On the subject of health, my first concern is air pollution. I am really concerned about my health and more of that about the health of my children. It's really polluted in here and it affects little ones far worse. For now i really try to avoid unnecessary  commuting in the city, but after a while they gotta go to school and being exposed to the air pollution is inevitable.

Thanks for your message, Maryam. heart You're absolutely right about the problem of air polution and how it acts as a serious threat to our health. There are lots of other major cities in the world which have larger populations but are not as polluted as Tehran. One reason could be that they use public means of transportation.

Maryam, have you and our family ever considered moving to a cleaner city?

Good to see you again Mehrasa :)
No way mehrasa jan. My ancestors have been living here for more than 500 years now :D my whole family is in here. In fact, Tehran is my beloved hometown and i really don't like to leave it for any reason, not to a nearby town nor anywhere else in the whole world.
What i hope to happen is that the government move the capital to another city. And as you've mentioned before people get to use public transportation system. But as all of us know there is a big need of infrastructure which seems so far away to happen.

Thanks for your clarification, Maryam! smiley To be honest, I've never had such strong feelings about my own home town. I was born and raised in Babol, a city in the North, for the most part though we also stayed in Tehran for a couple of years. It seems to me that home town is a place where I feel happy and at ease! wink

Moving the capital to another city has been a debated issue. But as you said, it needs a lot of large-scale planning and hardly seems to be feasible at the moment.

I hope they would do something for improving the public transportation. There are not as many buses, taxis, and subway lines as there are people. So we normally tend to use our own cars especially on rainy days or when we plan to stay out till late at night.

Having an underactive thyroid is equal to gaining weight in the course of time if one doesn't do anything about it. Please do follow your doctor's advice, and you'll recover soon. Also don't forget to go through blood tests regularly to have your thyroid monitored. Wish you an immediate recovery, Sanaz! smiley

As far as i know ,there are alot of reasons to gain weight such as :

Eating fast food

Eating junk food

Eating rice and macaroni and potato ouing to having  a lot of carbohydrate

Eating fat foods with lots of oil

Right, Ehsan! Nurition plays a vital role in staying healthy. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. So let's avoid eating oily food! wink

Metabolism  plays lead rolls in our life you know when your bodys metabolism is high you can loose weight easily but how you can increase your metabolism ?????!

Here are some ways to boost one's metabolism:

eating small, frequent meals

doing aerobic exercises

being constantly on the move

practicing weight training

While searching for ways to boost metabolism, I came across an index known as RMR (resting metabolic rate). Below is a formula to calculate your RMR:

RMR = 9.99w + 6.25s - 4.92a + 166g-161

w = weight in kilograms; if you know your weight in pounds, divide by 2.2 to get your weight in kilograms

s = height in centimeters; if you know your height in inches, multiply by 2.54 to get your height in centimeters

a = age in years

g = gender = 1 for males, 0 for females

Hi everyone
So good to see a lot of discussion on the website! And of course congratulations to Jafar! Regarding your topic, I personally believe one should take all the factors related to health, ie environmental and personal matters. On the environmental view, as previously mentioned by some friends, we cannot do anything about them such as pollution or the parasites and such, the only way is to refrain from such risky conditions as much as possible! On the personal aspect, we may change our lifestyle to a healthy one and adapt to the usual ways that healthy people follow! These include healthy eating habits and regular sports programs to be fit!
Thanks for reading my comment! ☺
